According to reporters on August 23, Lenovo Group’s previously released first quarter financial results for the 2024/25 fiscal year showed that Lenovo’s core business, personal computer business, had a global market share of nearly 23%, an operating profit margin of 8.8%, and a high-end product proportion of 31.6%. Lenovo has performed outstandingly in the field of personal computers (AI PCs) with artificial intelligence capabilities. According to data released by Canalys, Lenovo’s AI PC shipments have increased by as much as 228% month on month.

This indicates that Lenovo’s AI PC with five major features, launched in May this year, has received positive feedback from users, and Lenovo’s strategy of investing heavily in AI PCs in recent years has shown initial results. AI PC is a new type of computer with a built-in personal intelligent agent that can interact with users in natural language and has powerful local heterogeneous computing power. This type of computer can understand user intentions, form a logically rigorous chain of reasoning, decompose complex tasks, and make plans. AI PC also has the ability to establish a personal knowledge base for each user and connect to an open ecosystem of artificial intelligence applications.
Benefiting from the new round of commercial replacement cycle and the topic effect of AI PC, the recovery momentum of the global personal computer market continues to strengthen. Morgan Stanley’s previously released report predicts that AI PC will become the next key factor driving the growth of the personal computer market, with the AI PC market penetration rate expected to rapidly increase from 2% this year to 65% by 2028.

Lenovo Group Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing previously stated that it is expected that AI PCs will accelerate the personal computer market into a new round of replacement cycles, and by 2027, AI PCs will account for more than half of the total number of personal computers. Lenovo will unleash the potential of individual intelligent agents through innovation, deepen strategic partnerships, and build a more diversified product portfolio and richer ecosystem.
Yang Yuanqing said, “AI PC is just the beginning. Our ultimate goal is to create personal intelligent agents that can be placed on different forms of terminal devices for individuals, and to create enterprise intelligent agents supported by hybrid infrastructure for enterprises. While helping customers and various industries improve productivity in an efficient way, we also protect data privacy and security.
